Army launches nocturnal cordon in Rajwar forests

Srinagar: Government forces on Sunday evening launched a cordon-and-search operation in forest areas of Rajwar, Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Official sources told GNS that army’s 21 RR laid a siege in forest areas of Wader Balla, Bawan Watser and Dureshpora at around 7:20 pm.

Amid the cordon, a massive combing operation has been launched in these forest areas, they said.

An army officer said that the cordon was launched following inputs about the movement of some suspected militants.

So far no contact has been established with militants the officer said.

When reports last came in, the cordon amid searches were going on in the forest areas. (GNS)
