Srinagar: Eight more passengers succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll to twenty in a tragic road accident that took place in Ramban district of Jammu region.
Director, Disaster Management J&K Aamir Ali told news gathering agency Global News Service that eight more passengers have succumbed to their injuries at the hospital while 12 others with serious injuries have been lifted to Udhampur and government medical college (GMC) Jammu for advanced treatment.
“One Cheetah, one Chetak and one Pawan Hans helicopter besides the state chopper have been pressed into service to airlifted the injured. Six sorties were undertaken to shift the injured to hospital,” he said.
The tragic road accident took place around 11:10 am today when a minibus (JK19-1593) carrying passengers from Banihal to Ramban over turned near Kayla mode along the strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway here before plunging into a 500ft deep gorge. (GNS)
