1.0 Kg Charas recovered, accused arrested by Kupwara Police.

Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of narcotics smuggling and peddling in the district, Kupwara Police during the preceding night at about 21:00 hours apprehended a narcotic smuggler namely Showkat Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Ahmad Rather of village Kawari from Radbugh area and has recovered *01 Kg of *Charas* from his possession .

SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas told that it was based on a specific information that a police naka led by SHO Kupwara Mohd Rafiq and IC PC Post Kandi Mohd Younis under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rashid Younis was established at Radbugh in presence of Local Executive Magistrate where Showkat was arrested while smuggling the narcotics to sell it among youth of Kupwara. Sensing Police presence, Showkat did try to evade his interception but was caught tactfully and his personal search was carried in presence of the Executive Magistrate. On weighing of the Charas being carried by Showkat, it turned out to be 01 Kg , which was seized and sealed on spot. During preliminary investigations, Showkat revealed that he was on way to sell the narcotics in small quantities among the youth of Kupwara.

Further investigations in the case to unearth this drugs syndicate is in progress.
