SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) Srinagar and Budgam successfully concluded a two-day orientation programme today for members of the Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC).
This initiative, held as part of the implementation of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Scheme 2024, aimed to enhance the knowledge and effectiveness of LSUC members in ensuring justice for children.
The programme, which commenced on January 2, 2025, brought together participants both physically and virtually to discuss strategies for providing accessible and impactful legal services to children.
Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Srinagar and Budgam, underscoring the critical role of LSUC members in upholding the rights of children. She highlighted the transformative potential of the NALSA Scheme 2024 in empowering vulnerable children and ensuring they receive timely and effective legal aid.
Masarat Shaheen, a retired judicial officer, joined the programme virtually and shared her expert insights on the legal framework for children’s rights.
She emphasized the importance of understanding of the NALSA Scheme and its provisions, encouraging participants to adopt a proactive and empathetic approach in their roles.
Members of the LSUC actively engaged during the sessions, discussing practical applications of the NALSA Scheme and exchanging ideas to enhance service delivery.
Participants from DLSA Budgam joined virtually, ensuring that geographical constraints did not hinder comprehensive involvement. The orientation programme also focused on fostering a deeper understanding of the legal rights and entitlements of children, equipping participants with the tools necessary to address their specific needs effectively.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the District Legal Services Authorities of Srinagar and Budgam to upholding the principles of justice, equality, and inclusivity.
By equipping LSUC members with the knowledge and skills required to implement the NALSA Scheme 2024, the DLSAs continue to demonstrate their dedication to ensuring access to justice for the most vulnerable members of society, especially children.
The successful conclusion of this programme marks a significant step forward in the collaborative effort to safeguard the rights of children and ensure their voices are heard within the justice system.
