463 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Jammu district in 2024: Police

Jammu — In a significant move to combat illegal mining and tighten the noose around violators, Jammu Police in Rural zone has intensified its efforts against those exploiting public resources for personal gain.

Special drives against illegal mining were conducted throughout the year 2024 in the Rural Zone of Jammu District. As a result of these operations, 463 vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized, and fines amounting to ₹70,30,556/- were imposed on these violators.

Additionally, for vehicles repeatedly involved in illegal mining activities, four FIRs were registered, highlighting the stern legal action being taken. The process for cancelling the registration of these habitual offender vehicles has also been initiated.

The overarching goal of these efforts is to safeguard natural resources and curb the activities of the mining mafia, which poses a threat to the environment and public assets.

Speaking on the achievements, SP Rural Jammu Sh. Brijesh Sharma, JKPS stated, that Jammu Police under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Sh. Joginder Singh, JKPS is committed to protecting public property and eradicating the menace of illegal mining in the region. These efforts will continue to ensure the preservation of natural resources and strict action against violators.

This decisive action demonstrates Jammu Police’s unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the community’s natural resources. — (KIMS)
