71th All India Cooperative week celebrated at Town Hall Kupwara

KUPWARA : Department of Cooperatives Kupwara today organized an impressive function at Town Hall here to mark the celebration of 71st All India Cooperative week.

The function was presided over by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat. ADC Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rehman, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Kupwara, Adnan Nazir, Officers from line departments, besides, members and stakeholders of Cooperative Societies of district Kupwara participated in the function.
Addressing the function, the ADDC praised the role played by the cooperative societies in upliftment of poor and downtrodden people by enabling them to earn their livelihood with honour. He stressed the need to organize awareness camps at various levels, so that essence of doing business on a cooperative based economic model is disseminated far and wide. He also complimented Cooperative Department Kupwara for organizing an impressive and fruitful programme.
ADC in his speech highlighted the historical role of cooperative societies in addressing the economic issues of the poor people. He emphasized the need for widening the scope of the cooperatives to reach out to the grassroot level.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Kupwara highlighted the performance and achievements of the department in the district. He laid stress for enrolment of maximum number of educated unemployed youths, women and weaker sections of the society and to bring them in the fold of cooperatives, so that they earn for themselves and become the source of earning for others. He emphasized for creation of maximum employment avenues by registering maximum number of FPOs, Cooperative Societies, and Cooperatives in diversified fields across the district.
On the occasion, the representatives from different cooperative societies shared their thoughts and highlighting their success stories. The speakers elaborated their contribution in serving the community through cooperative sector.
Meanwhile, various Cooperative institutions were awarded Certificate of Appreciation and momentos by the ADDC, ADC and Deputy Registrar in recognition of their outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
