DC Budgam reviews implementation & progress of PMAY-U, PM KUSUM, PM Surya schemes

BUDGAM : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of multiple beneficiary oriented schemes in the district, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) & PM Surya scheme.

The meeting aimed to ensure efficient delivery of benefits to residents and to address challenges if any faced in the execution of these flagship programs.
The DC emphasized the importance of providing affordable housing to urban beneficiaries under the PMAY-U scheme. He instructed officials to expedite the verification and sanctioning process to ensure timely disbursal of benefits, aiming for maximum coverage within the current financial year.
While reviewing PM KUSUM , Officials were directed to conduct awareness programs to educate farmers on the benefits of solar pumps and assist them with the application process and completion of the installation expeditiously.
The DC discussed the progress under the PM Surya initiative, focused on scaling up solar energy infrastructure across the district.
Stressing the importance of clean and renewable energy, he instructed the concerned departments to expedite the installation of solar panels on eligible house holds and identify other various locations across district to reduce dependency on traditional energy sources.
It’s pertinent to mention , any citizen having a house with a roof suitable for installing solar panels and a valid electricity connection, with a certain income ceiling can avail the benefits under surya scheme.
Beneficiaries can visit the MNRE official website or the specific Suryoday Yojana portal to register.
Besides, CPO Budgam Irfan Giri, Executive Engineers from Jal Shakti, Executive Engineer KPDCL , Officials from JKEDA and Housing department were also present in the meeting.
