The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Bandipora, Khalil Ahmad Choudhary and guidance of Secretary DLSA Bandipora, Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon.
Adv. Tasleema Jan (Panel lawyer) TLSC Sumbal, educated the participants that plastic poses risks to human and environmental health at every stage of its life, right from production, use, and disposal.
She said governments, companies, and consumers should work as one to break the addiction to plastic usage, champion zero waste, and build a plastic free economy.
She also said that reduction of plastic waste can be addressed by setting and implementing design and safety standards for disposing of non-recyclable plastic waste and by making manufacturers responsible for products shedding micro plastics and other hazardous materials.
Regarding preserving biodiversity, Adv. Tasleema Jan said that biodiversity is the sum of all life on earth, thus preserving biodiversity refers to the protection, upliftment and management of biodiversity in order to derive sustainable benefits for present and future generations.
Concluding the event she said that because the decline in biodiversity is caused by humans, biodiversity now needs humans to transform their behavior and actions in order to preserve biodiversity.
The programme was attended by staff members of TLSC Sumbal, PLVs, Teachers and Students of the said institution, etc.
