Kupwara : The R&B Department in Kupwara has set a target of clearing 1,757 kilometers of roads across all six divisions of the district during the upcoming winter season. This initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted connectivity and smooth transportation for residents despite heavy snowfall. Control rooms have been established in all six divisions and at the SE office in Kupwara to ensure seamless coordination during snow clearance operations. These control rooms will serve as key centers for monitoring progress, addressing public grievances, and deploying resources effectively.

This year, the department has further strengthened its efforts by acquiring new machinery to enhance operational efficiency. This, along with the control rooms and streamlined resource management, will play a critical role in achieving the snow clearance target and maintaining vital connectivity in the district.

The department appeals to residents to avoid parking vehicles in lanes and on main roads during snowfall, as such obstructions can delay snow clearance operations and inconvenience the public. Cooperation from residents is essential for smooth and timely snow removal.

Nodal Officer Peer Showket emphasized that during snow clearance operations, priority will be given to highways first, followed by main roads, and then link roads. This prioritization ensures that major transportation routes are cleared promptly, facilitating movement and connectivity across the district. Residents are urged to cooperate fully with the department to ensure efficient snow clearance and minimal disruption during the winter season.
