Srinagar : In a significant step towards enhancing livestock management and improving Artificial Insemination (AI) services in rural areas, the Livestock Development Board Kashmir (LDBK) has deputed a batch of 62 candidates for training as Multi-Purpose AI Technicians in Rural India (MAITRIs).
The candidates were formally flagged off by Dr. Parvinder Singh, Director of Animal Husbandry Kashmir and CEO of LDBK, from the board’s headquarters at Shalteng, Srinagar. They will undergo a three-month comprehensive training program at the Artificial Insemination Training Institute in Bathinda, Punjab.
This initiative is part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), which focuses on improving cattle productivity and advancing breed development through effective AI practices. The training program is designed to provide the candidates with both technical expertise and practical skills essential for modern livestock management.
The program also aims to empower rural communities by making veterinary services more accessible and efficient. In addition, it offers self-employment opportunities to educated unemployed youth in rural areas, fostering economic growth and development.
The Livestock Development Board and the Department of Animal Husbandry Kashmir remain committed to strengthening the livestock sector and delivering transformative solutions to rural households. This initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, contributing to sustainable development in the region.
