GDC Soibugh Organizes Educational Tour for Students to Historic Sites

Srinagar : Department of History, Govt. Degree College Soibugh organized a history tour for students in two shifts to historic sites including Jamia Masjid, Pari Mahal, Cheshmashahi on December 12, 2024.The tour aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the region’s rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The tour was guided by esteemed faculty members: Dr. Nazir Ahmad Shah, Dr. Sameer Ahmad Bhat, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, Dr. Mohd Shafi Mir, Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Mir, Dr. Mudasir Mubarik, and Mr. Shabir Ahmad Banday. At Jamia Masjid, students explored the stunning architecture and learned about its historical context. Pari Mahal offered insights into Mughal gardens and their design principles. Cheshmashahi provided a glimpse into the beautiful landscapes and the significance of water in Mughal architecture. On December 14, the second shift of the tour included SPS Museum, which showcased various artifacts, enriching students’ knowledge of local history. Burzahama highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage. This part of the tour was guided by Prof. Roohi Jan, Dr. Suzain Rashid, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Shah, Dr. Sameer Ahmad Bhat, Dr. Osia Majid, Dr. Tariq Bashir Dar and Mr. Asif Qadir. The faculty members guided students, briefing them about the significance of the places visited and enhancing their knowledge. This educational experience allowed students to connect classroom learning with real-world historical sites, fostering a greater appreciation for their heritage. The tour was not only informative but also an opportunity for students to engage with their history in a meaningful way, guided by their dedicated teachers.
