Anantnag : The Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Anantnag Thursday organized an awareness programme in Utersoo, Shangus, under the government’s ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ Initiative.
The programme aimed to educate the public about various schemes implemented by KVIB, including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP).
Experts highlighted the potential of these schemes in uplifting rural industries and creating employment opportunities through the establishment of income-generating units.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Dr. Ilyas Ahmad, emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering rural youth. He encouraged them to establish income-generating units by leveraging schemes offered by KVIB, Mission Youth, and other related departments.
He remarked that such awareness programmes serve as a platform for the youth to familiarize themselves with the numerous government schemes and programmes designed to support them.
Key speakers at the event included the District Officer KVIB Anantnag, Block Development Officer (BDO) Shangus, Lead District Manager (LDM) Anantnag, and branch managers of Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) branches in Shangus, Chittergul, and Nowgam. Officers from other line departments were also present and contributed to the discussions.
The event witnessed active participation from local youth and community members, who expressed keen interest in the opportunities presented under various government initiatives.
