BANDIPORA : A three day Farmers’ Skill Development Training programme under Capacity Building Activities organised by the Department of Sericulture Bandipora concluded on Tuesday at the Sericulture Nursery Ayatmulla, Bandipora.
Speaking on the occasion, District Sericulture Officer (DSO) Bandipora emphasized that Sericulture has been recognized as a low-investment occupation that not only creates employment opportunities but also generates income. He stressed that this makes it an attractive livelihood option, especially in rural areas, where it can contribute to both individual and community economic development.
Furthermore, he said that the favorable climatic conditions, coupled with the active participation of a large number of women in the sericulture industry, will significantly contribute to the growth and advancement of the silk industry, driving it to new heights in the district.
Addressing the gathering, the DSO said that the main aim of the event was to promote silkworm rearing at the farm level in order to increase cocoon production. “Sericulture, being a cash crop, offers a profitable and sustainable alternative to traditional farming,” he added.
After successful completion of a 03 days training programme, the Department of Sericulture Bandipora distributed certificates and Rearing Kits among 40 farmers.
