Jammu : Two drug peddlers were arrested with 265 grams of heroin-like-substance and firearm in Bishnah area here today.

Addressing media persons at Police Station Bishnah, SP Jammu South Ajay Sharma, who is holding the additional charge of SP Headquarters and IH Rather, said that acting on specific information about two persons involved in the illegal trade of selling and transporting of narcotics contraband in Bishnah’s Ring Road area, a party of Police Station Bishnah, along with Executive Magistrate, Bishnah, laid a naka at Palli Morh, Ring Road, Bishnah, and intercepted a vehicle (JK02BN-0205) coming from Raya Morh area towards Bishnah.

He said, on search of the vehicle, 265 grams of heroin-like-substance and one pistol along with two live cartridges were recovered from the suspected persons.

Accordingly, he said, the accused identified as Jaswinder Singh, and Jarnail Singh, both residents of Ward Number 2, Bhour Camp, Chatha, were arrested and booked in case FIR number 209/2024 under sections 8/21/22/29/60 of the NDPS Act and 3/25 Arms Act registered at Police Station Bishnah and further investigation set into motion.

The police officer added that the arrested individuals are habitual criminals, who have a history of involvement in the crimes in the past as well, as according to him, 6 FIRs have been registered against Jaswinder Singh alias Jimmi and 2 against Jarnail at different police stations of Jammu District.

Pertinently, the arrests and seizure were made by a police team commanded by SHO Bishnah Inspector Sushil Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna, SP Ajay Sharma, who is holding the additional charge of SP Headquarters, with an overall supervision of SSP Jammu Joginder Singh.
