Dr Jitendra briefed about ongoing hydropower projects in J&K

JAMMU: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, who holds multiple important portfolios, including Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, arrived in Jammu along with Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, on December 20, 2024.

At the airport, he was warmly welcomed a by Sanjay Kumar Singh and Ram Swaroop, Executive Director of NHPC Regional Office, Jammu. Senior officers from NHPC and CVPPL were also present.

Dr Singh was briefed by Sanjay Kumar Singh about the ongoing hydropower projects of NHPC, CVPPL, and RHPCL in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Union Minister then visited Kishtwar and Doda districts today to review the progress of these projects.

During his visit, Dr Singh was given a detailed presentation on the development of various hydroelectric projects in the area.

He emphasized that once completed, these projects will make the region self-sufficient in power generation, with surplus power available for other parts of India.

The projects have also led to significant investments and created employment opportunities for the local population, he said.

Dr Singh praised the work being done by NHPC, CVPPL, and RHPCL in the region and acknowledged the positive impact of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

He highlighted their efforts in improving the social development of the area, particularly for those affected by the projects.
