Republic day celebrated across Kupwara district with great enthusiasm and fervor Chairman DDC unfurls National Flag at DPL Kupwara

KUPWARA : The 76th Republic Day was celebrated today across the frontier district Kupwara with great enthusiasm and fervour.

The main function of Republic Day celebration was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at march-past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, Home Guards, FPF, Special Commandos, Police Band, and school children. Besides, in a scintillating spectacle, Tableaus (Jankis) were also presented by different departments during the parade which showcased achievements and welfare Schemes.
Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan ; SSP Kupwara, Gulam Jeelani; ADC Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rehman; DDC Members, Police Officers, Army Officers, District officers, officials of all departments, people from different areas , besides students from different educational institutions were present on the occasion.
Addressing at the occasion, the Chairman DDC, Irfan Sultan Panditpori extended his warm greetings to the people of Kupwara district and highlighted the importance of the Republic Day. He appealed to people to work together for promoting national integration, communal harmony and peace in the district.
The Chairman said that development of all sections of the society especially rural and far flung areas remains the top most priority of the Government and District Administration. He highlighted various measures taken by the District Administration Kupwara for the overall development of the district.
The Chairman, while appreciating District Administration said that district has recorded appreciable achievements on the socio economic and developmental fronts under the leadership of District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan.
The Chairman congratulated Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and her team of officers for putting best efforts in public service delivery and transparency.
He said Kupwara district has vast potential of tourism and the administration is on toes to tap the potential and explore the tourist destinations of the district.
He said 5807 housing units were approved under PMAY (G) during the ongoing Financial Year out of which 4618 units have been constructed so far. He said 5 girls hostel have been constructed to promote girl education, besides 60 smart classrooms were established and mid day meals were provided to about 1 lakh school children.
He said the drug addiction which poses a challenge to our society is being tackled with the concerted efforts of the civil administration and police department.
He also highlighted the achievements of different departments including Rural Development, R&B, PMGSY, Education, Health, PDD, Jal Shakti, Tourism, BEACON and others in boosting the Kupwara’s socio-economic status. The Chairman appreciated the efforts of these departments in making a positive impact on the lives of the people of district Kupwara.
Earlier, the Chairman DDC, DC Kupwara, and SSP Kupwara laid floral wreaths on the Martyrs Memorial.
A variety of cultural programmes were presented by the school children and local artists during the function. Later, an award ceremony was held during which awards were given to the best performers in the March Past, Tableaus and cultural programmes. Awards were also given to various Officers and officials of the administration for their good work.
Republic Day celebration function were also held at D.C Office Complex Kupwara where Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan unfurled the National Flag and took Salute at March Past. Senior Officers and employees of District Administration were also present on the occasion.
The Republic day functions were also held in Handwara, Lolab and Karnah
sub-divisions,
In Handwara, Programme Officer Kupwara, Hakeem Tanveer unfurled the National Flag at District Police Lines Handwara, inspected the parade & took salute at March past. Cultural programmes were also presented by the school children and awards were given to the achievers.
In Karnah sub division, SDM, Zaffar Ahmad Lone unfurled the National flag at Mini Secretrait Tangdar and took salute on March Past.
Similarly, SDM Lolab, Javid Masoodi unfurled the National flag at GDC Sogam and took salute on March Past. Cultural variety programmes were also presented by the students.
Republic Day Celebrations were also held in all Government Offices where Officers unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. Moreover, Republic Day celebrations were also held in all educational institutions and Panchayats across district Kupwara.
