A police official told the news agency that a special team has been constituted and the investigation has been intensified to crack the bank robbery. He said that CCTV footage has been obtained and some employees and security guards are being questioned.

Notably, unidentified thieves looted approximately Rs 19.50 lakh from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in the remote Dachan area. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the bank was closed. The robbers managed to gain access to the branch and made away with the cash before authorities could respond.

Officials stated that Dachan remains largely cut off during the winter months due to harsh weather conditions, making it difficult to access.

“The remote location may have worked in the favor of the criminals, delaying immediate response efforts.”

The official added that security agencies have been put on alert, and local residents have been urged to report any suspicious activity that may help in tracking down the robbers. [KNT]
