Acting on credible information, a team from Police Station Kralgund, led by the SHO PS Kralgund, intercepted three tractors involved in illegal mineral extraction. The vehicles were seized and challaned under relevant sections of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the owners and drivers of the vehicles.

This operation, carried out in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department, is part of a sustained effort to dismantle illegal mining networks and safeguard the region’s natural resources. Authorities emphasized their commitment to protecting the environment and public health from the adverse effects of unlawful mineral extraction.

Handwara Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal mining by contacting the emergency helpline at 112. They reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating mining regulations.

This crackdown reflects the administration’s continued resolve to address environmental concerns and enforce the law against illegal mining practices in the region.
