SRINAGAR: The Meteorological department today forecast more light to moderate rains and snow over both Jammu and Kashmir divisions till February 28.

An official told that in past 24 hours, the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir received light to moderate rain & snow, while heavy snowfall occurred over isolated higher reaches in the meanwhile.

He said the weather will likely remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain & snow at most places with isolated heavy rain & snow over both Kashmir and Jammu divisions till February 28.

The official while issuing advisory said that temporary disruption of surface transportation mainly over Sadhna Pass, Razdhan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri Axis, Mughal Road, Sinthan Pass and other major roads of hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

He advised tourists, travelers and transporters to plan their journey accordingly while following advisories being issued from administration and traffic department. The official further said that farmers are advised to suspend irrigation and other farm operations.

From March 1-2, the weather conditions will likely remain generally cloudy with light rain and snow at isolated to scattered places. While on March 3, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain & snow at many places of Jammu and Kashmir.

From March 4-6, the weather will remain generally dry, the official said.

The official maintained that there will be a significant fall in day temperatures in coming days.(Agencies)
