SHOPIAN : Department of Social Welfare’s Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Shopian today organized a grand event at Government Degree College, Shopian, to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD).
The event served as a powerful platform to celebrate and recognize the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women across various sectors.
The celebration featured impactful speeches by distinguished speakers, including the District Social Welfare Officer, who emphasized the pivotal role of women in societal progress, importance of gender equality, and the collective responsibility of society in empowering women.
Experts from the Department of Health also shared valuable insights on women’s well-being, healthcare rights, and access to essential medical services.
As a mark of appreciation, the organizers felicitated outstanding female achievers including meritorious students, women entrepreneurs, and sportswomen, applauding their dedication and significant contributions in their respective fields.
The event also saw enthusiastic participation of Chief Education Officer, District Panchayat Officer (DPO), District Social Welfare Officer, District Information Officer, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), female educators, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and NRLM Self-Help Group (SHG) members, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to advancing women’s empowerment.
A major highlight of the event was the distribution of 25 sewing machines among destitute girls along with a Signature Campaign.
This initiative aims to provide underprivileged women with the tools and skills necessary to become financially independent and contribute actively to society.
