DC reviews traffic management in Bandipora town

BANDIPORA : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, today convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss the traffic congestion issues in the main market and Bandipora Town.

The meeting aimed to assess the current situation and explore practical measures to ease traffic flow and decongest the town.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the coordinated efforts to address traffic-related issues that are causing inconvenience to the public.
He urged the concerned officers to implement comprehensive solutions that ensure smoother traffic flow and overall convenience for the general public.
The meeting discussed various issues including unauthorized vehicle parking, inadequate parking signages, entry of heavy vehicles into Bandipora Town, and the importance of providing proper guidance to transporters.
The DC directed the concerned officers to take immediate steps to implement measures for traffic decongestion in the main market area and its surroundings.
He instructed the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) to initiate an awareness campaign for transporters, focusing on better traffic management practices within the town.
The DC directed the CEO Municipal Council Bandipora to ensure that towing vehicles are available to remove vehicles parked improperly or in violation of regulations.
Additionally, Qadri emphasized the importance of regulating street vendors, urging that they occupy only designated areas without encroaching roads or footpaths.
Further as a concrete step to address congestion caused by heavy vehicles, the DC issued a circular restricting the entry of heavy vehicles into the main market area from 08:00 am to 06:00 pm.
Among others the meeting was attended by ARTO Anees Ahmad, Tehsildar, DySP, EO MC and other concerned.
