Handwara : On the directions of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Handwara, a joint team comprising the Revenue Department, Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, and Police conducted a market-checking drive in Kralgund on Tuesday.
Led by Tehsildar Qaziabad, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, the drive aimed to ensure quality edibles, price regulation, and hygiene standards in the marketplace. During the inspection, shopkeepers were warned against overpricing and selling substandard products. Erring traders faced fines exceeding ₹23,000, with strict instructions to adhere to hygiene norms and government-approved price lists.
The administration has urged traders to comply with regulations to protect consumer rights. Officials assured that such market-checking drives will continue to curb unfair trade practices and uphold public health and safety.
