A flagship event of the day was held at Police Station Kupwara, which was chaired by SSP Kupwara, Shri Ghulam Jeelani Wani (JKPS). The program was attended by DySPs (Probationers) — Mr. Shivek Sharma, Mr. Raghav Chowdhary, Ms Goldy Sharma, and Ms. Manisha Kumari — along with SHO Kupwara, Inspector Yasir Rashid. The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from local residents, civil society representatives, business leaders, retired police personnel, and youth groups.

Simultaneously, Thana Diwas programs were conducted at:
• Police Post Kelaroos, chaired by ASP Kupwara Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Bhat,
• Police Post Hatmulla, attended by DySP Headquarters Mr. Mohammad Rafee Rather, and
• Police Post Awoora, chaired by DySP Lolab Mr. Javaid Lone.

During these interactive sessions, citizens were encouraged to raise issues related to law enforcement, drug abuse, road safety, domestic violence, traffic management, infrastructure gaps, and civic concerns. The police officers listened patiently, documented all grievances, and assured timely action and coordination with the concerned departments wherever necessary.

SSP Kupwara, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of public participation in policing and reiterated the police department’s resolve to function with transparency, accountability, and approachability. He assured that grievances related to policing and public safety will be addressed on priority, and police will continue working closely with the community to ensure peace and harmony in the district.

The sessions also included awareness on cybercrime, drug abuse prevention, women’s safety, and emergency helplines to empower citizens with information and resources.

Kupwara Police reaffirmed its commitment to bridging the gap between police and public, enhancing community trust, and fostering a collaborative approach to crime prevention. Citizens were encouraged to freely reach out to their local police units and contribute actively to the betterment of their neighborhoods.
