DC Srinagar discusses arrangements for upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025

Directs Officers to ensure better arrangements for smooth, peaceful conduct of Yatra

SRINAGAR : In order to review the arrangements for upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2025, a meeting of senior Officers of Police and Civil Administration was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat here today at Meeting Hall of DC Office.
During the meeting, DC took a comprehensive review of the arrangements to be put in place to ensure smooth and seamless conduct of the upcoming annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025.
The DC discussed threadbare the arrangements to be made at yatra transit camp at Panthachowk with regard to the supply of Power & Water, setting up of cleanliness & sanitation, disaster mitigation & fire safety measures, transportation & parking facilities, access control gates, issuance of RFID cards, medical facility and other aspects to extend better facilities to the visiting yatries.
In addition, DC emphasized the need for formulating a supplementary contingency to augment the accommodation for temporary halt of the yatries in wake of expected huge footfall as the yatries may travel through train service this year to pay obeisance at holy cave via Srinagar route.
On the occasion, Dr Biall asked the concerned to take necessary measures to ensure all basic amenities at the transit camps so that yatries may not face any difficulty.
With regard to sanitation, SMC authorities were directed to ensure proper sanitation in and around the transit camp, beside, adequate arrangements for mobile public convenience facilities at the camp. They were also asked to keep sufficient staff at the camp to maintain sanitation and proper cleanliness.
Additionally they were asked to ensure measures to combat water logging issues, if any caused due to inclement weather.
DC was informed that an adequate number of mobile toilets, bath stations and urinals are being made available at yatra transit camp Panthachowk and near Nowgam railway station to facilitate the yatries during SANJY-2025.
Regarding transports & parking facilities, the concerned Officers briefed the DC about the arrangements being made for parking of buses ferrying the Yatries.
Similarly, the Fire & Emergency Department was asked to take appropriate fire safety measures at the transit camp particularly near yatra langar to tackle any fire incident.
DC also stressed on the installation of signages at Panthachowk yatra transit camp to provide information to the yatries regarding nearby facilities, control room contact numbers etc.
Meanwhile, DC passed directions to set up an Emergency Operation Centre for inter-departmental coordination and proper management of the yatra-2025.
