Sopore : Sopore Police on friday organized Thana Diwas at Dak Bungalow Sopore as part of the Government’s public outreach initiative. The event was chaired by SSP Sopore, Shri Iftkhar Talib-JKPS, along with other senior officers.
The meeting began with a solemn tribute and one-minute silence for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 persons, including 25 tourists, were martyred by terrorists.
Prominent stakeholders, including traders, civil society members, youth representatives, and school heads from Sopore subdivision, actively participated in the program. Participants raised several issues, which were patiently heard by the officers. Genuine police-related grievances were assured swift resolution, while matters concerning civil administration will be taken up with the relevant authorities.
In his address, SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib highlighted Sopore’s historic and cultural importance, describing it as “a land of orchards, intellect, and courage.” He delivered a firm and clear message:
“Those who disrupt peace, peddle drugs, or engage in crime will find no space here. But for the honest and law-abiding, Sopore Police will always stand as a friend and partner.”
The SSP stressed the importance of a strong police-public partnership, especially calling upon the youth to walk the path of progress. He assured the public that while drug peddlers will face uncompromising action, those struggling with addiction will be shown compassion and guided toward recovery.
The event concluded with a call for unity and shared responsibility. SSP Sopore urged all sections of society to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, and help preserve the peace and prosperity of Sopore.
The participants appreciated the efforts of Sopore Police and welcomed the initiative, expressing their desire for more such public meetings in the future.
Sopore Police reaffirms its commitment: tough on crime, warm with the public, and always open to dialogue.
