Commissioner SMC reviews progress of PMAY-U 2.0 in Srinagar

SRINAGAR : Commissioner SMC, Faz Lul Haseeb, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). He was joined by Mr. Shahbaz Mirza (JKAS), MD Housing Board/Mission Director PMAY (Kashmir), and Nuzhat Khurshid, Joint Commissioner (Administration).

J&K govt facilitates safe return of residents, students from Iran

The session focused on evaluating current progress and strategizing enhanced delivery of housing benefits to the urban poor and homeless in Srinagar. Senior officials from SMC and the Revenue department also participated.

Commissioner directed to expedite the beneficiary identification process across all wards, ensuring transparent and inclusive verification supported by accurate documentation. Emphasizing inter-departmental coordination, Haseeb called for greater community engagement and awareness campaigns to boost scheme outreach.

Departments were instructed to fast-track pending approvals, finalize Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) promptly, and strengthen on-ground monitoring mechanisms.

Special focus was laid on the inclusion of vulnerable groups, including women-headed households.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to accelerate PMAY-U 2.0 implementation, aiming to make Srinagar a model for inclusive and sustainable urban housing development.
