SRINAGAR : The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Monday commenced Management Development Programs (MDP) in 11 Districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme. The initiative is being funded by the Union Ministry of MSME and implemented in the Union Territory by the Industries and Commerce Department.
The Management Development Programmes (MDPs) were inaugurated in district Kathua, Kishtwar, Reasi, Samba, Udhampur, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Poonch and Rajouri. A total of 222 candidates including 168 women have been registered for the MDP, who shall undergo a 30-hour training over six days.
At Udhampur and Poonch, the program was inaugurated by Mohinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director, District Employment and Counselling Centre, Udhampur and Abdul Majid Tantray, Deputy Director, District Employment and Counselling Centre, Poonch respectively.
At Rajouri, Baramulla and Kishtwar districts, the MDPs were inaugurated by Ujwal Mahajan, Principal Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Rajouri, Javed Ahmad Ganie, Principal, Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Baramulla and Zubair Ahmad, In-charge Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kishtwar respectively.
At Bandipora, Samba, Reasi, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Kathua, the MDPs were inaugurated by the JKEDI course team.
The MDPs coordinated by JKEDI District Centres witnessed participation from the local MSMEs, who will be provided with the real time know-how of running and managing the businesses. The programme will help the MSMEs of the area to enhance their skills and interact with the experts from different line departments.
The program aims to strengthen the managerial, financial and strategic skills of the entrepreneurs and small business owners, empowering them to scale up operations, enhance competitiveness and create sustainable enterprises. This flagship initiative is being implemented in alignment with the broader objectives of the Government of India’s RAMP program to bolster the MSME ecosystem.
The MDP curriculum has been meticulously designed by subject matter experts and includes modules on business planning, marketing strategies, digital tools, financial literacy, compliance, innovation and leadership. The program also includes mentorship sessions, case studies and hands-on workshops to provide real-world insights.
Over the next six days, the local entrepreneurs, MSME operators and aspiring business leaders will engage with industry professionals, JKEDI faculty and certified trainers in an interactive learning environment. The simultaneous launch of MDPs in 11 districts ensures equitable access to resources and training opportunities, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas.
The MDPs under RAMP imitative in the remaining nine districts of Jammu and Kashmir shall begin on June 25 and June 30, 2025.
