Handwara : Continuing its unwavering efforts to combat drug abuse and promote a healthier society, Handwara Police today organized a major Anti-Drugs Awareness Rally at Vilgam Main Market. The initiative aimed to sensitize the public—especially the youth—about the devastating effects of drug addiction and to foster collective responsibility in tackling this growing societal threat.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various educational institutions across Vilgam, who marched through the market streets with banners, placards, and slogans echoing a strong message against drug abuse. Their active involvement energized the atmosphere and drew the attention of shopkeepers, commuters, and local residents.

Senior police officers, along with teachers, civil society members, and local dignitaries, were present at the event, showing strong support for the cause and encouraging the young participants. The rally served as a dual-purpose event: raising awareness and reinforcing community solidarity in the fight against drugs.

While addressing the gathering, police officials highlighted that law enforcement alone cannot eradicate drug abuse. They underlined the need for active community involvement, particularly from parents, teachers, religious leaders, and local influencers, to identify early signs of addiction and guide the youth toward a constructive path.

The event received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local population, who praised the efforts of Handwara Police and pledged their support for future awareness drives and preventive initiatives.

The rally concluded peacefully, with a renewed commitment to building a drug-free society and safeguarding the well-being of future generations.
