Managing Director KPDCL, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad Shah (JKAS), formally welcomed the Hon’ble MLA and highlighted the critical role of public representatives in advancing infrastructure development, especially in the power sector. Detailed presentations on project components, timelines, and on-ground challenges were made during the meeting.

Hon’ble MLA Qaiser Jamshaid Lone appreciated the progress achieved but emphasized the urgent need to prioritize critical works and adhere strictly to deadlines. He directed the implementing agencies to ensure uninterrupted and enhanced power supply to residents and called for maintaining adequate buffer stocks of transformers and essential repair materials.

Key technical concerns, including the aging 33kV Old Kupwara line and the need for strengthening Receiving Station infrastructure, were also discussed. The MLA reiterated the strategic importance of fast-tracking the proposed Grid Station at Waheedpora, Sopore, to improve load management and transmission reliability across the region.

To resolve field-level challenges such as Right of Way (RoW) issues, it was decided that a joint site inspection will be conducted in Lolab on July 1, 2025. The inspection will involve the MLA, KPDCL officials, PIA representatives, and the turnkey contractor to expedite execution through on-site problem-solving and coordination.

In a major push for clean energy, the meeting also saw the announcement of a Solar Rooftop Promotion and Registration Campaign under the PM–Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna.

The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation among all stakeholders for their commitment to timely and efficient execution of RDSS works, with a collective resolve to deliver better power infrastructure and services to the people of Kupwara.
