Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi on Friday strongly condemned the breaking of the emblem at the revered Dargah Hazratbal, terming the act as “heart-wrenching” and demanding stern action against those involved.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Dr. Andrabi said, “It is like a cloudburst that broke on me after I saw the emblem being broken. Such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
She announced that the Waqf Board will file an FIR against all those who desecrated the emblem. Dr. Andrabi also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and security agencies to ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
In a strong message, the Waqf Board Chairperson further urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to register a case against the MLA who, according to her, had tweeted irresponsibly regarding the incident.
Dr. Andrabi reiterated the Waqf Board’s commitment to safeguard all revered shrines and ensure that such acts of desecration are dealt with firmly.
