During the inspection, police officers thoroughly checked the registers and customer verification records maintained by SIM card vendors. The objective was to ascertain whether any bogus SIM cards had been issued and to reinforce the responsibility of vendors in maintaining proper records of customer identification. Vendors were categorically advised to adhere to the laid-down guidelines while issuing SIM cards.

This preventive measure is a vital part of Kupwara Police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security, prevent anti-social elements from exploiting communication channels, and safeguard the community at large. By ensuring that SIM cards are issued only after proper verification, Kupwara Police seeks to plug potential loopholes that could be misused for criminal or unlawful purposes.

The exercise was conducted peacefully and successfully across the district, reflecting the commitment of Kupwara Police to protecting the safety and security of the citizens.
