NEW DELHI : Sajad Ahmad Shah, a dynamic young entrepreneur from Kashmir, was felicitated at the prestigious Bharat Business Awards ceremony held in the national capital. The award was presented by the renowned founder of Bharat PE, Mr. Ashneer Grover, in recognition of Mr. Shah’s exceptional efforts in promoting Kashmir’s rich handicraft heritage on the global stage.
Sajad Ahmad Shah has been instrumental in transforming the landscape for local Kashmiri artisans by creating international market linkages for their products. His enterprise has successfully bridged the gap between the skilled craftspeople of the valley and a global clientele, showcasing the exquisite artistry of Pashmina, Paper Mâché, Walnut Wood carving, and other traditional crafts.
Upon receiving the award, an elated Sajad Ahmad Shah dedicated this honour to the artisans of Kashmir. He specifically acknowledged the guidance and mentorship that has been pivotal to his journey.
“This recognition is not just for me, but for every artisan in Kashmir whose hands weave magic and keep our heritage alive,” said Mr. Shah. “I owe a great deal of this success to the able mentorship and unwavering support of my guide, Dr. Touseef Bhat. Under his mentorship, we have been able to strategize and execute a vision that takes our century-old handicrafts to the entire world.”
Highlighting the significant social impact of his venture, Mr. Shah added, “Beyond business, our most significant achievement is providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to more than 1000 individuals and their families back home in Kashmir. This award will further fuel our mission to empower our community and preserve our cultural legacy.”
