Keran, Kupwara : In a spirited effort to promote sportsmanship, fitness, and community participation among the youth of border areas, a two-day Cluster Level Sports Meet was successfully organised at Keran under the joint collaboration of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the Indian Army’s 06 Rashtriya Rifles (SIKH), and the Khatana Action Club.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 100 boys and girls from various villages of the Keran Cluster. Over the course of two days, a series of six sporting events were conducted — including Volleyball, 100-meter Race, Tug of War, Badminton, Skipping Rope, and Shot Put — aimed at fostering team spirit, discipline, and physical fitness among the participants.
The meet created an energetic and inclusive atmosphere, reflecting the combined commitment of the Ministry, the Indian Army, and local youth clubs toward empowering the youth and encouraging a culture of sports in remote border regions.
The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was the Coy Commander, 6 RR Keran, who was joined by Tehsildar Keran, BDC Chairperson Keran, SHO Keran, Vice Principal Higher Secondary School Keran, and several senior citizens of the area.
They congratulated all participants for showcasing remarkable enthusiasm and sportsman spirit and appreciated the efforts of organisers for creating such a positive platform for the youth.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were felicitated for their outstanding performances.
The Cluster Level Sports Meet not only highlighted the sporting talent of Keran’s youth but also strengthened the bond between the community and the Indian Army, fostering unity and progress in the border region.
