Rana, accompanied by senior BJP leaders and thousands of supporters, submitted her nomination before the returning officer in Jammu.

Speaking to reporters, Rana, per news agency said she felt honoured to be contesting from Nagrota and expressed confidence that the people of the constituency would extend the same support and blessings to her as they had given to her late father, Devender Singh Rana.

She said her father’s greatest legacy was his hard work, honesty, and deep respect for everyone. “Rana Sahab treated everyone with love and dignity. These are the values I wish to carry forward,” she added.

Devyani Rana, daughter of the late Devender Singh Rana, the former Nagrota MLA whose demise necessitated the by-election had joined active politics earlier this year.

In January 2025, she was appointed as the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
