Kupwara Doctor Receives International Shiksham Award for Transforming Rural Healthcare

Kupwara : Dr. Abdul Majid Wani, Managing Director of Quality Healthcare Hospital, National Highway Drugmulla, Kupwara, has been conferred the prestigious International Shiksham Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to strengthening peripheral and rural healthcare, particularly in the aspirational border district of Kupwara, and for his exemplary role as a healthcare entrepreneur.
Dr. Wani has played a pioneering role in making affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare a reality for the people of North Kashmir. Under his leadership, a 50-bedded multi-specialty hospital, accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), was established—making it one of the first rural hospitals of its kind in the region. Despite operating in a geographically remote and conflict-affected area, the hospital offers advanced medical services comparable to urban centers, setting a national benchmark for rural and peripheral healthcare delivery.
The Quality Healthcare Hospital has emerged as a replicable model for strengthening healthcare infrastructure not only across India but also in developing and war-torn regions globally.
