The accused, Abdul Majeed Munshi alias Pandit, son of Mahad Munshi and resident of Gulgam, Kupwara, was previously involved in FIR No. 309/2018 registered at Police Station Kupwara under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act.

During further enquiry conducted under Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, it was established that the accused had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through illegal drug trafficking activities. Verification revealed that he owned a residential house at Gulgam, Kupwara, valued at approximately ₹19.40 lakh.

Accordingly, acting under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, the said residential property has been attached after it was prima facie found to have been acquired through proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking.

Kupwara Police reiterated its firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace from the district and warned that stringent legal action, including attachment of illegally acquired properties, will continue against those engaged in narcotics trade.
