Gurez : In a significant step towards improving connectivity and infrastructure in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army has commenced the construction of a new road network in Gurez Valley, bringing immense relief and happiness to local residents.
The ambitious project aims to enhance access to remote villages that have long faced challenges due to difficult terrain, harsh weather conditions, and inadequate road connectivity. For decades, residents of the valley have struggled with limited transportation facilities, affecting access to healthcare, education, markets, and other essential services.
The road construction work is being carried out by the Army’s engineering teams with the assistance of heavy machinery, including JCB excavators, to navigate the rugged mountainous landscape. Once completed, the road is expected to substantially reduce travel time and improve year-round mobility for the local population.
Residents have welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for undertaking the project. They said the new road will not only ease daily travel but also open new opportunities for trade, tourism, and economic development in the region.
Apart from strengthening connectivity in this strategically important border area, the project is expected to serve as a catalyst for socio-economic growth, improving the overall quality of life for the people of Gurez Valley.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment towards the welfare and development of border communities alongside its primary role of safeguarding the nation’s frontiers.
