The Hon’ble Court has convicted Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, resident of Bichwara, Dalgate, Srinagar, for the murder of Abdul Gani Dar, son of Mohd. Abdullah, resident of Rassu, Budgam, under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The convict has been sentenced to Rigorous Imprisonment for Life, along with a fine of ₹50,000.

Pertinently, the convict is an Ex-Terrorist and is one of the founding members of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM), which emerged as a Terrorist outfit associated with the Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith movement in Kashmir.
During his period of Terrorism, he was involved in various violent activities, including grenade attacks, attacks on security checkpoints, weapon-snatching incidents and targeted killings of civilians and security personnel. He was also involved in providing logistical support and facilitating networks with other Terror outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HuM), upto 2000s. He was later arrested.

The conviction is the outcome of a meticulous investigation conducted by Srinagar Police and effective prosecution before the Hon’ble Court.
The case demonstrates that an individual’s past association with militancy does not place them beyond the reach of law, and that serious criminal offences are pursued through due process irrespective of the background of the accused.
The outcome reflects the unwavering commitment of Srinagar Police towards ensuring justice for victims through professional investigation, scientific evidence and diligent prosecution.

Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice for victims and bringing every offender to justice in accordance with law.
