Artificial Intelligence is becoming an important part of modern education, and its role could be especially useful for schools across Kashmir. With the right planning, AI can help students learn better, support teachers and improve access to quality educational resources.
Kashmir has schools in both urban and remote areas. Students in villages and far flung areas may not always have access to the same learning resources available in larger towns and cities. AI based educational tools can help bridge this gap by providing students with explanations, practice questions, language support and additional learning material.
AI can also make learning more personalised. Students have different abilities and learning speeds. An AI based system can help identify areas where a student is struggling and provide additional practice. For example, a student facing difficulty in mathematics can receive step by step explanations and questions suited to their level.
Language can also be an important area for AI in Kashmir schools. Students may study in English, Urdu or other local languages. AI based translation and language learning tools can help students understand difficult lessons and improve their communication skills.
Teachers can benefit as well. AI can help prepare lesson plans, quizzes, worksheets and other classroom material. This can reduce some routine workload and give teachers more time to focus on students and classroom activities.
AI could also support students who have limited access to private tuition. A student can use digital AI tools to revise lessons, ask questions and practise after school hours. This could be particularly useful for students in areas where additional coaching facilities are limited.
However, schools must introduce AI carefully. Students should not use it simply to complete homework or copy answers. They must learn to question information, verify facts and develop their own thinking. Teachers should remain central to the learning process because education also involves discipline, guidance, communication and personal development.
Schools in Kashmir should focus on digital literacy alongside AI education. Teachers need proper training, while students need safe and responsible access to technology. Schools must also consider internet connectivity and access to suitable devices, especially in remote areas.
AI cannot solve every problem in education. But if used responsibly, it can become a valuable support system for Kashmir’s schools. The aim should be simple: use technology to give students better learning opportunities while keeping teachers at the centre of education.
