While the winters are knocking on the valley, people in the valley make necessary winter arrangements, which includes warm clothes, heating arrangements, to dry vegetables as the valley witnesses’ harsh winters. More importantly has been the availability of electricity in winters, which remains a major concern for the people of the valley. As soon as winter arrives people in the valley get to see a new winter schedule marking the curtailments for both metered and non-metered areas. While the electricity department in the valley (PDD) also starts with surprise inspections to check power thefts. However, given the winters in the valley, life in the valley without electricity becomes paralyzed. The question however is if PDD this year can stop the electricity woes in the valley, or if the requirement of the electricity goes up in the winters and if so why the requirements are not met so that the people in the valley don’t face electricity outage. One can visualize the community heads accompanied by the other members of the community roaming all around the repair divisions of the electricity department as the transformers often get broken due to the extra requirements of the electricity. However the electricity department terms it is a non-judicious use of electricity which according to them results in damage in the transformers. It has to be seen whether this winter proves to be a difference if the people of the valley will get to witness electricity if not throughout at least less curtailments.
