Details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that at least 13 unsectioned sub-centers of Bandipora medical block are continuously struggling from the lack of staff and equipment deficiency since years.

The details futher stated that the heath sub-centers which are located in the 13 villages include Aragam Payeen, Chetibandi-Bala, Chetibandi-Payeen, Brar, CA-Khan, Arin, Kudara, Buthoo, Pathkoot, Khayar, Darul-uloom RahRaheemya, Panzigam, Chuntiwara and Mangipora.

Sources said that these centers have been set up on political command that’s why they are still unsectioned despite passing of many years. They further said that if medical staff is deployed in these centers it is because of internal adjustment.

The Health Sub Centers are the worse example of the pathetic attitude of the government towards medicare facilities in these villages.

A visit to these heath centers by this reporter revealed the appalling condition owing to absence of maintenance and proper upkeep by the authorities while some of the centers were seen running in raw shops and some were found closed.

Locals blamed the concerned authorities for their “insensitive attitude” towards the centres and alleged that they lack proper staff and basic infrastructure required for its smooth functioning.

“First of all, these health centers need to be made sectioned and then the government should pay attention to them so that we poor people can breathe a sigh of relief, ” they said, adding that

“They are of no use. We still have to go to Bandipora hospital for a normal treatment and looking at them, it looks like the government is joking with us, ” Sabreena a student said, adding that these centers have fallen victim to the inattention of the government.

Tabasum, another local, said that these health centers were much needed in remote areas but looking at their condition, it seems like we will never benefit from them.

Locals requested the concerned authorities and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and redress their grievances so that people may heave a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, block medical officer (BMO), Bandipora Dr Masrat Iqbal didn’t respond to comment on the issue despite repeated attempts—(KNO)
