2-way traffic on Sgr-Jammu highway tomorrow: Authorities.

Qazigund, Feb 07 : Traffic department authorities on Monday said that on Tuesday subject to fair weather and better road conditions Light Motor Vehicles (passenger) and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on the highway.

The traffic department in an advisory to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said “On 08-02-2022, subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(passenger)/private cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa, adding that TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.”

“Cut off for LMVs/private cars from Nagrota (Jammu) will be at 0700 hours to 1200 hours, from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0800 hours to 1300 hours and from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0800 hours to 1300 hours “(subject to change depending on the road position then)” advisory said. It said no vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.

About HMVs/Load carriers, it said, “subject to fair weather and better road conditions, they shall be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu after assessing the traffic situation on highway.” Advisory further added that TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the highway.

“Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of NHW.”

“Mughal Road, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road and Kishtwar-Sinthan Road closed for vehicular movement by the Administration in view of snow accumulation.”—(KNO)
