Ganderbal, Mar 15 : Residents of Guzhama and adjacent areas in Ganderbal are up in arms against the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for failing to complete the under-construction bridge since 2014.
Local residents of the area told that there has been an inordinate delay in completion of Guzhama-Ganderbal bridge due to which they are facing immense problems.
The construction, according to them started in 2011 and continued for four years. However, the work stopped in 2014 and only piers were constructed.
Arif Ahmad, a resident of Guzhama told KNO that the bridge was sanctioned a decade ago after making repeated pleas to the previous governments. But he fails to understand the reason that prompted the concerned agency to abandon the work.
Residents said the bridge would significantly shorten distance between several villages.
Meanwhile, the locals have sought immediate intervention of Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal so that work on the bridge is resumed—(KNO)
