In year 2022, over four lakh tourists so far have visited Doodhpathri in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
According to the official data available with Rising Kashmir 134,994 tourists visited Doodhpathri from April 2021 to March 2022.
Due to the worldwide Covid-19 lockdown, only 131 foreign tourists, 58,281 domestic tourists and 76,582 locals visited Doodhpathri from April 2021 to March 2022.
Figures also reveal that from April to July this year, Doodhpathri received 457,799 tourists which is a very high number compared to the previous year.
Locals who work at Doodhpathri told Rising Kashmir that they earn a decent amount of money as the rush of tourists there is increasing day by day.
Bashir Ahmad, a male tea seller, said that almost two thousand people are currently earning their livelihood from this tourist destination.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Doodhpathri Development Authority Nargis Suraya said that the increasing number of tourists coming to Doodhpathri gives good business opportunities to locals.(RK)
