A Young Kashmiri Radio Broadcaster, RJ Umar Nisar, who is Bollywood acclaimed TEDx Speaker, Multiple time UNICEF Awardee and a brilliant Radio Jockey who also goes by the name – The Radio boy.
UNICEF, in partnership with the University of Oxford (UK), Reuters Foundation (UK), and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), organised workshop on Critical Appraisal Skills (CAS) , to fight disinformation around critical health services including immunization.
The workshop also aims to counter rumour-mongering and promote science and balanced AEFI reporting.
Lately, Umar attended the several UNICEF Conferences to understand the role of radio in strengthening its initiatives.
Earlier this year, Umar has been awarded the ’Best Content Award’ and the Immunization Champion award by United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) at the annual Radio4Child 2022 Awards in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The award was presented by multi-Grammy Award-winning music composer, environmentalist, and UNICEF celebrity supporter Ricky Kej, OIC UNICEF, Dr Zafrin Chowdhury, chief of communications and advocacy and partnerships, UNICEF India.
Based in a small hamlet, He has done shows on many global issues like coronavirus pandemic, mensuration, mental health, climate change, immunisation awareness. He has received global recognisation and acclaim for the work he has done.
“It was a proud moment for me, for my radio station ‘Radio Raabta 90.8 FM’ which i represented and for my as well. The confrence was so insightful that it can lead us to make a positive impact on our society” Rj Umar Nisar said.
Umar had also shared the creative space with big Names like; Neelash Misra, Kabir Khan, Raj Acharya and others.
