DLSA Kupwara conducts Mega Legal Services/Awareness Camp at Town Hall Kupwara

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara today organized a Mega Legal Services & Awareness Camp here at Town Hall Kupwara which was inaugurated by Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara, Tasleem Arief.

Secretary DLSA, Muzamil Ahmad Wani; Sub Judge Kupwara, R.K Tadyal; President Bar Association Kupwara, Mohd Shafiq Shah; CEO Kupwara, Abdul Hameed Fani, Officers from line departments, besides, specially abled children and parents were present during the camp.

Addressing the function, Principal D&S Judge, Tasleem Arief highlighted the efforts of the District Legal Services Authority Kupwara in making justice system accessible to all stakeholders of the district especially people belonging to marginalized sections of the society.

The Principal D&S Judge while highlighting the importance of providing justice for all said that poverty or illiteracy should not be an impediment in getting Justice adding that the Court is providing various free services including Victim Compensation, Free Legal Aid and services of penal lawyers to ensure justice is provided to all especially underprivileged people.

Secretary DLSA, Muzamil Ahmad Wani in his address said that the aim of holding the camp was to provide awareness about different welfare schemes of the government to the people adding that as a Legal Services Authority, DLSA has been designated as a watchdog by the Supreme Court to check whether the benefits of the services are reaching to the targeted beneficiaries in the district or not. He impressed upon all the departments to ensure schemes and benefits are provided on merit basis only.

The Secretary expressed gratitude towards all the participating departments and other participants for their cooperation in making the awareness camp a success.

CEO Kupwara, Abdul Hamid Fani at the occasion highlighted various initiatives of the Education department. He gave detailed awareness to the participants about Free Education, Zimadari programme, Mid Day Meals, KGVBs and Scholarships.

President Bar Association Kupwara and other speakers also spoke at the occasion.
Later, the Principal D&S Judge, Secretary DLSA, Sub Judge and CEO distributed wheel chairs, Smart Canes, Daizy Players, MSI Kits among the specially able children.
