Fisheries Department hold draw of lots for selection of beneficiaries at Kupwara

DC directs for proposal of at-least 200 beneficiaries under PMEGP scheme

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today chaired a meeting of District Level Committee to finalize the list of beneficiaries for construction of Trout Units under Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘PMMSY’ through draw of lots.

It was informed in the meeting that as many as 45 applications including 28 Trout and 17 Carp were received by the Fisheries department Kupwara for construction of Trout Units under ‘PMMSY’ scheme. Out of which 15 applicants from different areas of the district were shortlisted for establishment of the Trout Units.

On the occasion, draw of lots was held in presence of all the members of District Level Committee and 11 fishermen got selected for construction of the Trout Units.

Speaking at the occasion, the DC directed the concerned officer to submit additional list of at-least 200 beneficiaries to District Industries Centre Kupwara who shall be sponsored under the ambitious PMEGP scheme for establishment of the Trout Units adding that this will boost the employment avenues for the unemployed youth of the district.
