Opinion | Are electric appliances useful in the valley?

Since the invention of electricity, the world has introduced quite advanced and strange inventions.

Invention of electricity was the turning point for the modernisation of the globe. Invention of Electricity is still a miracle for the people because the concept of electricity is quite hard to get into their minds. The electric sciences is vast and has eminent scope at the same time it generates a complete budget for the electronic world.

Directly or indirectly electricity has indeed great importance for the overall development of any nation. Electricity enlightens small to big cities during the dark period enhances the beauty of any particular place. These days the concept of smart city is common as the administration of Srinagar has taken different works under their consideration. The concept of smart is genuine, demand and need of the time. Electric appliances are everywhere where we are noticing developmental projects from smaller to higher scales.

Remote areas of the country have now transformed into modern ones because of electricity, electric gadgets are quite useful for the transformation of any backward region. Everyone gets habitual of different electronic gadgets like people used to cell phones, laptops, and LED televisions. Curtailment of power for a single hour makes people restless and stops the functioning of electronic gadgets. Electricity has a great and important role in the upliftment of the country’s economy and directly or indirectly generated a great quantum of employment for the educated as well as uneducated people of the nation.

Now let’s come to the point why I am mentioning such things in this article. I hope you get me well and respond to this article in a very positive manner. Kashmir valley lies in the extreme north position in the country. Due to the geographical location of the valley. We are experiencing extreme cold and harsh winters here. Every year during the winters Kashmir valley records from 1 to touching 10 feet of snowfall. What does it indicate? Kashmir must have a special budget for the winters but instead we are suffering in terms of shortage of vegetables, fruits, essential commodities and shortages during winters. The essential domestic commodities skyrocketed during these hard and harsh days.

Kashmir has great potential to generate electricity but unfortunately we are being deprived of our own resources due to some agreements made in the past. Valley is renowned throughout the globe, blessed with enormous natural beauty and endowed with great resources. One thing is quite clear that the people of the valley are not getting what they deserve. Instead of providing more subsidiaries of the domestic gas, kerosene, wood, coal and other essential commodities most of the companies are looting consumers during such tough and harsh winters.

Electric appliances are meant for the public use. To mitigate the hard circumstances but at the same time our higher rank officials circulate messages among the public as ban on electronic gadgets like electric blankets, power heaters, boilers etc. which is quite injustice for the KPDCL consumers.
