Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. It is no surprise that governments globally are focusing on the significant role vocational education and training plays in their countries’ futures. At a time when skills gap is a major concern globally, investing in skill development has never been so important.

Today India is one of the youngest nation’s of the world with 70 percent of its population in the working age group.Skilling along with vocational education should be made aspiration , vocational education should be made at par with formal education and must be given more focus . Unfortunately the skill or vocational education is perceived as a preferred option for those who have not succeeded in the formal education system .

Skilling should create not only job seekers but also job creators .Skill development and Entrepreneurship culture needs to be built from the bottom to the top . Schools should have mandatory skill and Entrepreneurship classes.
