In Kashmir Valley, School Education department according to news agencies states that, there are at least 346 coaching institutes registered. The numbers have risen exponentially. In 2017, the department had only 182 registered institutes, while in 2016, there were merely 116 institutes. Over the years, the commercialization in education is posing a serious challenge to the quality of education in the current social cum economic context. The rapid growth of coaching centres across the Valley has put a public concern . It is high time that Govt and the civil society joins hands to check the fee structure these coachinh centres are keeping acrroding to their own preferences – which is a grave violation. The govt official regulations must also be checked if some percentage of poor children are enrolled.
